Time passed by, it has been one month that I have not been watch movies in cinema for one month. What about you? You plan to go to the cinema? Or download movies from the Internet and then play it on the computer or TV? Please forgive me for being a little lazy, I am the person selecting for the second option. Aha, I am recently reliving the movies I have seen before, the one I watched last night is called Your Name, a Japanese anime film and whose Japanese name is 君の名は.
Your Name is written and directed by Makoto Shinkai and produced by CoMix Wave Film. The film stars the voices of Ryunosuke Kamiki, Mone Kamishiraishi, Masami Nagasawa, and Etsuko Ichihara. It premiered in Japan on August 26, 2016, and was released in other countries since October 2016. The first public screening of Your Name was held at Anime Expo in Los Angeles, the USA. More than 3,400 spectators watched the entire movie in advance.
The week being released in Japan, the box office of Your Name jumped to the top and reached 1.2 billion JPY. The more interesting thing is that when the box office exceeded 5 billion JPY and was about to break through 10 billion JPY, Makoto Shinkai contrarily felt nervous as he thought that he does not have such actual strength. However, it turns out that the capacity of Makoto Shinkai is far power than he thought. On the 28th day of the film's release, Your Name broke through 10 billion JPY at the box office in Japan, becoming the first anime film, which reached a 10 billion JPY box office but was not produced by Ghibli studio.
After the global release, Your Name received a high praise and insomuch won a series of film awards like Award for Best Feature Length Film in 49th Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival; Best Screenplay Award in the 11th Asian Film Awards. Furthermore, Makoto Shinkai is considered as “the heir to Hayao Miyazaki” or “the second Hayao Miyazaki”. We can see how much the audience appreciates the film.
I didn’t know about this film before my friends recommended me to watch it. As the movie finished, I didn’t feel much because I haven’t paid enough attention during the playback. It was until last night when I watched Your Name again, did I fund that each scene and line in the movie is paving the way for the climax.
Tachibana Taki (2016) and Miyamizu Mitsuha (2013) are two high school students. One day, they started to exchange their soul in the sleeping and forget what happened as they wake up. It was merely a strange dream, they thought. However, the people around detailed their abnormal performance, and then they discovered that everything really happened.
Henceforth, they knew form each other through messages left in the smartphone and began to intervene in other’s life: Mitsuha helped Taki made a closer relationship with his favorite girl; Taki helped feminine Mitsuha to be more popular in school. Suddenly, Taki fund that he is unable to exchange the soul with Mitsuha. He worried about what happened to Mitsuha and decided to seek out the village Mitsuha lives according to the paint he drew in memory.
It was discovered that the meteorite hit the hamlet where Mitsuha lived in three years ago. All of Mitsuha’s families and friends were killed in the disaster. Thereupon Taki figured out the method to exchange the soul with Mitsuha once more in line with the clue Mitsuha’s grandma mentioned before. They cooperated and prevented the disaster from happening.
As usual, they had no memories of each other, but there was always one important person occupies his/her heart. Years later, Taki became one graduate of architecture, and Mitsuha also got a job in Tokyo. They lately met each other in subway heading in different directions. Luckily, the two didn’t miss.
As I mentioned before, every scene in the movie is paving the way for the climax. For instance, when Mitsuha (Taki), young sister and grandma were on the way to the temple, grandma told that the knots and Chewing wine can connect the people and the time. It is a significant clue in the later story, as for the specific details, I will not disclose too much for the time being.
Another point this movie surprised me is that the scenes where Taki went through real exist in Shinjuku, Tokyo. My friend joked that if you want to visit Tokyo, just watch Your Name.

One scene touches my heart. Mitsuha was trying to persuade the villagers to head to the safe area. Suddenly, she forgot the name of Taki; a voice has been lingering in her mind: who is that important person? Who? It is painful, isn’t it? Accompanying with intensive background music, I can't help but shed tears.
Maybe my expression is not detailed enough for you to build an image. To the friends who haven’t watched Your Name before, please take it into consideration. You will like it, trust me! It could be downloaded online, and then you can play it on the PC. But I recommend you watch it together with your families, because the story is really exciting, by the way, you could discuss the plot with families. The action is better than thinking, launch a DVD burner like f2fsoft DVD Creator, burn the movie to DVD disc and then you could enjoy it with families and friend. Besides, if you have one Blu-ray player, try to burn the movie with Blu-ray creator, which can convert high-definition movies to disc without quality loss. Have a good time!
